Well, Reed just passed out for an afternoon nap, so I rushed to update my blog. I don’t know if he’ll sleep 30 minutes or 2 hours so I just have to do what I can! I’ve already missed so much!
Over the last month, Reed had several visitors I neglected to mention. A few weeks ago, we invited our friends Jeff and Amanda Weable and Jeff and Kelly McCune over to dinner. The Weables and the McCunes live in South County and Webster Groves, respectively, and we don’t get to see them much. The McCunes have two adorable daughters, Megan and Emily. Now that we have Reed, we are also able to reconnect with our friends who have children. We invited the girls over to dinner as well. This was the first time everyone met Reed, and the first time I had met Emily.
Kelly & Emily McCune and Reed
Beau, as usual, cooked a wonderful meal of steak and chicken fajitas. Reed was really wound up from meeting all the new people. He loves new faces and especially loves little kids – I think ESPECIALLY little girls. Emily really wanted to get up close and personal with Reed while he was in his bouncer. She was very gentle and touched his toes. When she reached up and patted his belly, Reed gave her a HUGE smile!
Megan and Emily reminded me of my sister and me when we were little. We hope to see them more often.
Secondly, our good friend Brian Antonacci stopped by about a week ago while he was in town to meet Reed. Brian and his wife, Jamie, used to live very close by to us in St. Charles. They were our very good friends, and we could always call them up last minute on a Saturday afternoon and invite them to the winery or a BBQ dinner at the last minute and vice versa. We were so disappointed when we learned they put their house on the market and were moving to Geneva, IL just outside Chicago. Plus, Jamie learned she was pregnant with their first child just a few months after I did! It's too bad we won't get to share in parenthood together. Brian and Jamie moved the week Reed was born so they didn’t get to meet him before they left.
Beau and I probably overloaded Brian with all our newfound “wisdom” after only being parents for 6 weeks! Hopefully, we imparted some good advice, and perhaps Brian can return the favor in a few months. They don’t know whether they are having a boy or a girl, and Beau and I can’t wait to hear that their little one has arrived. We miss you guys terribly!
