Some Progress

Thursday was another doctor's appointment. I was pleasantly surprised to learn I've dilated to 1 cm and am 70% effaced. The doctor of course said that I could stay at 1 cm for the next three weeks so it doesn't necessarily mean I'm close to active labor. But, if at my next appointment, I was something along the lines of 2 cm and 80% effaced that would be good progress.

By the way for those of you not familiar with labor & delivery terms or having not seen very many movies, you want to eventually be 10 cm dilated for the baby to be delivered. That's how wide your cervix opens. Effacement is how much your cervix is thinning out. 100% is also needed for the baby to be delivered.

Following Thursday's appointment, I had some of my first contractions ever during the workday on Friday. Just random ones, nothing to time or write home about, but it makes me hopeful that our little one will be here soon.
