37 Weeks - Nada Zip Nothing
>> Friday, July 18, 2008
That's what the doctor told me when I went in Thursday for my weekly appointment -- nada, zip, nothing.
Beau was unable to go with me, which I told him was a good deal for him. These appointments are down to about 5 minutes. The nurse weighs me, checks my blood pressure (normal) and asks how I'm feeling.
Then I sit and wait for the doctor who comes in, again asks how I'm feeling (fat is the answer by the way). Then places a small device up to my belly to hear the heartbeat (sounded good) and then does a quick check to see if I'm dilating at all. And.....nothing. No dilation, no advancement at all. And then a "see you next week!"
I've prepared myself to wait the full 3 weeks and beyond so there wasn't really any disappointment on my end. I've just figured this baby takes after my husband, who decides on his own when he will move or act (I think they actually call that stubbornness, but I'm sure Beau calls it being independent).
I'll play this game for now, but eventually may have to resort to the way I deal with Beau - get what I want, but just make him THINK it's his idea. Perhaps lots of walking and other "uncomfortable" activity for the baby....all of it safe, of course.
