Mommy's Helper

>> Sunday, July 25, 2010

About a week ago, Reed woke up early (around 6 a.m.) calling for me, which is how he usually wakes up. "Mommy....mommy....mommy." Sometimes it's crying, and sometimes it's just shouting. I usually let it go for awhile because sometimes he falls back asleep. This particular morning it was a shouting, "Mommy!" I yelled back, "yes, reed?" He responded, "doing?" As in what was I doing. Then, "I get up!"

I groaned and rolled out of bed. I hate when he wakes up early, and this was about an hour earlier than his usual start time. I trudged into his room, opened the door, and found him with a wet wipe, rubbing down the crib.

"I wash-a bed."

I couldn't help but smile. That's the thing about kids. Just when you're ready to scream or dead tired, they do something to make you laugh.

Reed was "washing" his bed, and after I picked him up he told me he wanted to "wash-a ground."

He is super interested in helping Mommy these days, even when it's not really "help." He is especially interested in cleaning.

He has helped Mommy do the laundry and do dishes. But his favorite form of cleaning is grabbing a wet wipe and proceeding to "wash-a" different items. He even tries to "wash-a Cubby."

Here are some photos, and a video of Reed cleaning.

Putting clothes in the laundry. He loves to push the buttons.

Reed "washing" the spindles on the stairs. This actually was helpful, but only after I persuaded him to do it versus rubbing a wet wipe on the carpet stairs.
