A Trip to Eckert's
>> Tuesday, September 22, 2009
On Saturday, we decided to take a trip out to Eckert's to pick some apples. We ended up not actually "picking" the apples, which we figured would be a little too hard with a 13-month old, but there was still plenty to see and do at Eckert's.
I'd never been to Eckert's even though it's a St. Louis area staple and once we made it out to the Belleville location, I realized why....it's far!! I'll have to talk to the Eckerts about opening a location in St. Charles County.
We bought some great-tasting apples and other delicacies (including an ugli fruit!), ate corn dogs and cheese fries and took Reed through the children's area. There are a lot of great carnival rides available, but Reed is still a bit young for most of it. He did try the bouncy house for a few minutes. I ended up having to go in with him and then help him out. Have you been in a bouncy house as an adult?? It is freaking exhausting! I was in there for all of 2 minutes bouncing gently on my knees with Reed, and I was nearly out of breath trying to get him out. Whew!
What Reed really enjoyed was seeing and feeding the animals. We saw goats, a camel, and llamas (to which Reed promptly pointed and said "dah?" "woo-woo?" "No, that's not a dog, that's a llama!)
