Walking for the Cubbies!
>> Sunday, June 28, 2009
I have to note that on Friday night, Reed took his first few steps unassisted. We were downstairs in the basement watching the Cubs game, and we really had Reed riled up. He loves to jump or bounce up and down on the couch, and we had him rocking all around.
The Cubs had just won, and we were all clapping and singing the "Go, Cubs, Go" song. He was standing in the middle of the floor clapping his hands. If I haven't mentioned it til now, he can stand unassisted for as much as 30 seconds, clap his hands and wave his arms. He can also squat down and retrieve something he has dropped on the floor.
Anyway, he was so excited and clapping, and then he took two clear steps forward before reaching and lunging for the couch. Beau and I looked at each other with our eyebrows raised and then said "Good job buddy!!"
Over the weekend he has taken some more steps to show off for his grandparents, including Grandma and Grandpa Veihman. He won't do it if we ask him too, he has to do it on his own. At Grandma and Grandpa DeLong's he even jumped! It was so funny. He was standing there, and then all of a sudden he jumped and landed with his legs squatted. Beau joked that Reed jumped higher than he could.
It's so exciting. I can't imagine that he could be walking in the next few weeks!
