Easter Weekend

Over the Easter Weekend, we were lucky to see most of our family, including Beau's brother Justin and his girlfriend Nichole who came down from Chicago to visit!

On Saturday morning, we headed downtown to meet Justin, Nichole and Beau's parents at their condo downtown. We then headed over to the Soulard Farmer's Market to shop the stalls. It was a great day, a little on the chilly side, but the sun was out so everything was A-OK. We stopped for some Bloody Mary's and a little red beans and rice. It's fun strolling around and checking out all the offerings. Reed was set up like a fat cat in his stroller getting pushed around by various family members. He loves to look at all the people and the action. And guess what? Celery stalks from your Bloody Mary are a great teething device, ha! Just make sure you give them the end without the vodka :)

After the market, we headed back to the Condo and then walked a few blocks up to Macy's. Beau stayed with Reed at the condo, and my boys sure missed out! Macy's has a great candy counter, and Tom, Janet, Justin, Nichole and I spent time picking out our favority Jelly Belly flavors. We had to do some taste testing to get just the right mix. We all commented how fun it will be for Reed to visit Grandma and Grandpa Veihman and pick out candy.

Mommy and Reed then took a much needed nap, and after waking up, we all headed to Iron Barley in South City for dinner. We left early (around 5:30 p.m.) in order to have an early dinner and get Reed into bed at a decent time. However, because of the Cards game, Iron Barley was packed! it's a small restaurant and there were no tables ready for a crowd as large as ours (it also included Beau's Aunt Christa and Uncle Richard by then). We went downstairs to the bar area and hung out. Well that turned into almost a 1 1/2 hour wait! Reed did just great. Although he was antsy to move around and crawl on the floor, he behaved so well and just transferred between family members' laps. We fed him and gave him a bottle while we waited. By the time we got upstairs and seated, I could tell he was on his last leg. However, he won't go to sleep unless he is left alone and blinded from the action.

Aunt Christa and Grandma Janet entertain Reed while we wait for a table.

Grandma and Grandpa Veihman entertain Reed in front of the mirror at Iron Barley. (I didn't notice the "Please Drink Responsibly" message on the mirror until after I took the picture!)

Beau went out to the car and got his stroller. Luckily, we had a little bit of space behind our table and we set Reed in the stroller. He never did go to sleep, but he made himself very comfortable by kicking back and putting his feet up. It was a pretty funny picture.

On Sunday, we hosted everyone, including my parents and grandmother, at our house. Richard brought over ribs, which were excellent!
